How do law firms find clients?

Law firms attract clients using a variety of methods, but the key one for large firms is through word of mouth referrals from current and past clients. Clearly it takes a long time for a firm to develop a reputation strong enough to exist just thorugh referrals, but many large law firms do not advertise which shows that the methods they use to get clients operate through these simple referral networks.

That said, some firms do use marketing and advertising to reach potential clients, such as through social media, online advertising, and other traditional forms of advertising.

But it is generally a law firm’s existing client base that proves to be the main source of new business through client referrals.
